Weekly Update (11/28-12/2)

Math-
Lessons covered:
4.7 "Baseball Multiplication"
4.8 Exploring Arrays and Facts
4.9 Estimating Distances with a Map Scale
4.10 "A Coin-Toss Experiment"
The Unit Four test will be next Tuesday (12/6).
Language Arts-
We will read selections from the Voices reading series this week.
The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise this week.
The vocabulary test will be next Friday (12/9).
The spelling theme this week is "double ff, ll, ss."

Science-
We will continue studying forces and motion and continue working with the "KNex" building materials.

Weekly Update (11/14-11/18)

Math-
Lessons covered:
4.1 Multiples of Equal Groups
4.2 Multiplication Arrays
4.3 Equal Shares and Equal Groups
4.4 Division Ties to Multiplication
Language Arts-
We will read selections from the Voices reading series this week.
The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise this week.
The vocabulary test will be Friday (11/18).
The spelling theme this week is "compound words." Eighteen words were given in class, and the students each added two self-selected words.

Science-

Poetry in the Park

Poetry in the Park was a HUGE success this morning. The children all did an outstanding job, and I have been told by many people that it was one of the best Poetry in the Park performances that they have seen.

A "Class Shoe" Unit of Length

Measuring with a Ruler

The Unit 2 test will go home on Wednesday.

Language Arts-

We will read selections from the Voices reading series this week.

The vocabulary will come from our science unit about Simple Machines this week.

Due to the fact that we need to practice the vocabulary words a bit more in class, the vocabulary test will be next Tuesday (10/18).

The spelling this week will be "homophones."
