Weekly Update (1/30-2/3)

Math-

Lessons covered:

6.1 Investigating Line Segments, Rays, and Lines

6.2 Parallel & Intersecting Line Segments, Rays, and Lines

6.3 Angles and Turns

6.4 Triangles

Language Arts-

We will finish the class novel, The Whipping Boy.

The spelling theme this week is -ar.

The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise Lesson 8.

Visit the links for some practice with both sets of words.

There will be a spelling test this Friday (2/3).

Science-

We will continue studying forces and motion.

Social Studies-

This week we will continue working with one of our social studies books, A History of US.

Weekly Update (1/17-1/20)

Math-

Lessons covered:

5.9 Tenths and Hundredths of a Meter

5.10 Application: Rainfall

5.11 Place Value in Decimals

The Unit 5 math test will be pushed back until next week in order to allow for more practice with decimals.

Language Arts-

We will continue the class novel, The Whipping Boy.

The spelling theme this week is the vowel sounds -or and -o.

The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise Lesson 8.

There will be a spelling test this Friday (1/20).

There will be a vocabulary test next Friday (1/27).

Science-

We will continue studying forces and motion and continue working with the "KNex" building materials.

Social Studies-

This week we will continue working with one of our social studies books, A History of US.

5.7 Model Decimals with Base-10 Blocks

We will begin the class novel, The Whipping Boy.
The spelling theme this week is plurals (-s and -es).
The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise Lesson 7.

There will be a spelling test this Friday (1/6).
There will be a vocabulary test next Friday (1/13).
Science-
We will continue studying forces and motion and continue working with the "KNex" building materials.
On Thursday we will go to the Student Activity Center to observe the middle division science fair projects.

This week we will conclude our study of the native tribes of Florida.
