Weekly Update (8/29-9/2)

Math-

Lessons covered:

1.6 Equivalent Names

1.7 The Language of Chance Events

1.8 Finding Differences

1.9 Calculator Routines

Language Arts-

We will read selections from the Voices reading series this week.

The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise this week.

Click on the link below the vocabulary list to help students practice the weekly vocabulary words.

The vocabulary test will be Friday (9/2).

The spelling this week will be open syllables.

for some practice games with the spelling words.

There will be a spelling test on Friday (9/2).

Science-

We will continue working on the Scientific Method.

Social Studies-

Continuing with our unit on Florida, this week we will introduce the Hello, Florida book.

The Daily Geography theme this week is "What is a map?"

Math-

1.3 Introducing the Student Reference Book (SRB)

1.4 Tools for Mathematics

1.5 Analyzing and Displaying Data

Language Arts-

We will read a class novel, Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days.

The vocabulary will come from Wordly Wise this week.

First Day of School

Today went very well. The students had a lot of energy and seem ready to get started on an exciting school year.
There is a little bit of homework tonight. While I will not post the homework assignments nightly, tonight's homework is:
-Letter worksheet
-Review the Student Handbook (on the school website)
-Check blog to see how many fish there are and what color
Also, it is Spirit Day tomorrow. Please review the new guidelines concerning spirit wear.

Meet Your Teacher Day

I really enjoyed meeting everyone this afternoon. It was nice to see so many smiling faces. I am really looking forward to a great year!
